The Create a New Course tool is an external app for Canvas developed at Indiana University. Anyone with at least one teacher enrollment in Canvas can use the tool to create new sites for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to, non-credit instruction, practice sites, committee work, and course templates.

• Create a new Canvas site. If you are enrolled in at least one Canvas course as a teacher, you can create new course sites in Canvas.
• Choose the licensing for the course. Your options are copyrighted, public domain, and various Creative Commons licenses.
• Choose location and/or academic unit. You can select from the academic units and/or locations assigned to other courses in which you are enrolled as a teacher.
