Google Chat is a communication platform supporting both instant messages and chat rooms. Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides are fully integrated with Google Chat, which means you can share these files and view them right in Google Chat, facilitating conversation and collaboration. You can find Google Chat in Gmail, or you can access it directly on the web and on mobile with apps for Android, iOS, and desktop.

• Host virtual office hours. You can use Google Chat to host virtual office hours or question-and-answer sessions before a big assessment.
• Open a new communication channel. During a large, live lecture, you can encourage students to use their devices to participate in a chat, enabling more students to share comments, questions, and notes with each other and with you.
• Collaborate in dedicated rooms. Create dedicated virtual rooms for students to communicate about group projects.
• Chat about Google files. You and your students can view Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides directly in the chat room, making it a useful platform for discussing drafts or conducting peer review.
